Chirgilchin

Date: Saturday, Mar 13, 2010
Time: 8:00 PM
Location: The Fredericton Playhouse

Details: Atmospheric and mesmerizing, throat singing is almost too difficult to describe in words. The music – produced by resonating low sounds in the throat, creates a middle note and a haunting, flute-like harmony. This ancient tradition is kept alive in just a few countries across Central Asia, south of Siberia. Chirgilchin hails from the small Russian province of Tuva, north of Western Mongolia, renowned for world-class throat singers. Singing the ancient folk songs in the Tuvan language, the group accompanies themselves on a variety of beautiful hand made instruments. Chirgilchin’s incantations will transport you to a distant land where you will discover the soundtrack to an ancient faraway culture.

Ticket Prices: Regular – $28.00 | Student – $18.00 | Member – $22.00

Jully Black

Date: Wednesday, Mar 31, 2010
Time: 8:00 PM
Location: The Fredericton Playhouse

Details: Have you ever had a notebook that you wrote everything in? A reminder to call someone, a phone number that’s changed, a note to read something inspirational or simply a great idea? That’s what THE BLACK BOOK is about. It is more than just a book, a diary, an agenda, a phone book or a glossary. It’s the place where the mental notes, important details and words of wisdom have manifested themselves into songs. These are lessons that I’ve learned and lessons that were taught to me through the experiences of mine and of others. Each of my previous albums have been little black books; however, this is THE BLACK BOOK. Even though this is my 3rd album, due to success of REVIVAL this feels more like my sophomore release.
